About
REGENERATE is a three dimensional illuminated sculpture created by the artist Henry Driver.
It is a new permanent piece of art created in response to, and celebrating, Cressing Temple Barns’ grand history of grain storage. The artwork promotes that food and the natural elements which sustain its’ production, such as ample water & healthy soil should be cherished and regenerated, not wasted and degraded.
The artwork focusses on raising awareness for regenerative farming practices which seek to increase biodiversity, enrich soils, water use efficiency, and enhance ecosystem services. This equates to farming systems that are resilient, sustainable, and have the potential to drastically offset global carbon emissions via carbon sequestration.
Visually, the artwork particularly focuses on the positive effects of regenerative farming on the soil. Such as increasing the occurrence of symbiotic relationships between crops and bacteria/fungi, which reduce the need to apply fertilisers.
REGENERATE was developed during Henry Driver’s three month artist residency at Cressing Temple Barns and is commissioned by Essex County Council.
You can visit this exhibition any time the barns are open, from 6th January onwards.
